This symbol is a novel variation on the very male concept of the Greenman.
David Lawrence made the original sketch for this years ago as the logo for a mixed Morris (English folk dance) team ( male & female dancers, which is uncommon - it’s normally an all male sport).
It seemed an appropriate visual pun to extend the concept of a god of the countryside to incorporate a female aspect- and that the Greenwoman should be invented to reflect the female nature of the troupe. Some green magic must have lain in the symbol as three of the female dancers were pregnant within a couple of months! Although there are very few Greenwomen as such in literature or in traditional imagery a female green’spirit is to be found in most cultures - Dionysus, Ghaia, etc.
This wonderful figure was designed, sculpted and manufactured in England, using resin-bonded Marble, Terracotta or Cotswold stone.
Modern moulding techniques faithfully reproduce the intricate and painstaking work of the sculptor whilst giving the appearance of real carved stone or sculpted terracotta.
Since resin is completely weatherproof, you can hang this impressive Greenman Wall plaque either inside or outside the home
Truly a unique Gift Idea
A hole is provided in the rear for simple hanging.
