This mermaid design was inspired by the Maid of Meigle, a 1000 year old (or more!) Pictish rock carving found near Perthshire, Scotland.
The stone is now housed in the Meigle Sculptured Stone Museum in Dundee.
163 x 163 stitch count.
The design is mainly cross stitch, with some backstitch/blackwork areas. The model was stitched on 32 count Ice Blue Belfast linen using Carrie’s hand-dyed Threads.
