The Lady of the Lake was the foster mother of Sir Lancelot who raised him beneath the murky waters of her lake.
She is best known for her presentation of the magical sword Excalibur to King Arthur.
Later in the legend, she was one of the queens who escorted the wounded Arthur to the Isle of Avalon.
