Fionn MacCumhaill (later anglicised to Finn McCool, Fionn or Finn is actually a nickname meaning fair when his hair turned prematurely white) was a mythical hunter-warrior of Irish Mythology occurring also in teh mythologies of Scotland and the Isle of Man.
The stories of Finn and his followers, the Fianna, form the Fenian cycle, an ancient military elite founded 300 BC responsible for the protection of the High King.
Finn implemented a code of honour into the Fianna that previously had a reputation for being somewhat unruly and thinking themselves to be above the law!
